Safia says they were not letting me speak. I didn't know what transpired or what my misstep was. The day of my arrest was the shadiest day of my life. I felt like I was broken. It was concluded that Safia was planning to kidnap the child so that she could claim him as her own. Did she lie to her husband she said that it was for some other reason. According to her, she was facing a difficult situation in her married life, which is why she did this. She says I was afraid that If I told them the truth, they might get angry and leave me. Safiya's nine-plus-year-old daughter's constant changing of Anna's clothes and buying the children's clothes were all factors that the prosecution made part of the case against her. On August 16, Safia was acquitted
On August 16, the jury took less than an hour to reach a verdict that Safia was not guilty. Safia says she cried tears of joy after hearing the verdict, but it was not the end of her troubles. Even when she closes her eyes, she hears the sound of keys and chains. She says the rumours and misinformation spread about her online were devastating. She says she faces prejudice in the Afghan community due to her separation from her first husband and her pursuit of an education and career. Even while talking to the media, she said, "I had it in my mind that it was a plan to get me in trouble. Despite this painful adventure, Safia is still pursuing her career in nursing.
